Umbrella Won't Open/Close Smoothly?Updated 3 days ago

We understand it can be frustrating when your cantilever umbrella isn't operating as expected. Here’s how to troubleshoot issues with the crank or glide mechanisms:

Check for Obstructions

First, visually inspect the umbrella frame, pole, and any moving parts for tangled cords, debris, or anything physically blocking movement.

Canopy Crank Handle (E2) Issues

If the Canopy Crank Handle (E2) is stiff or not working:

  • Ensure you are turning the crank in the correct direction (clockwise to open, counter-clockwise to close, as per your manual).
  • Feel for any unusual resistance. Don't force it.
  • Check that the crank handle itself is securely attached.

Canopy Glide Handle (E3) Tilting Issues

If the Canopy Glide Handle (E3) for tilting is problematic:

  • Make sure you are fully squeezing the grip or activating the release trigger on the handle before attempting to slide it up or down the pole.
  • Once at the desired angle, release the grip/trigger completely to allow it to lock into place.
  • Inspect the track on the main pole for any dirt or damage that might impede movement.

General Tips

  • Gentle Pressure: Always use smooth, gentle pressure. Forcing a mechanism can cause damage.
  • Inspect for Damage: Look for any bent parts or loose connections in the umbrella frame or handle assemblies.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, please refer to your assembly manual for part identification and contact our Customer Service team for further assistance. We're here to help!
