Cantilever Umbrella Care: Winter Storage & Cleaning TipsUpdated 3 hours ago
Proper care, including appropriate storage and regular cleaning, will significantly extend the life and appearance of your Atleisure cantilever umbrella.
Winter Storage (Especially for Cold Climates):
If you live in an area with freezing temperatures (e.g., down to -30°C / -22°F), please take these precautions:
- Water-Filled Base: Completely empty the base. Store the base sections and the umbrella indoors to prevent cracking from freezing water. (An alternative for outdoor base storage is a 50:50 water/antifreeze mix, but indoor storage is always best.)
- Sand-Filled Base (If left outdoors): Consider adding extra insulation. Covering the base with a heavy tarp can help shield it from excessive snow and moisture.
- Umbrella Canopy & Frame: The best protection is to use a dedicated umbrella cover. If a cover isn't used, or for maximum protection, detach the upper canopy/arm section and store it indoors.
- Solar Panels & Batteries: If your umbrella has these, remove them and store them indoors in a dry, temperate place to prevent cold damage.
Routine Cleaning:
- Regular Rinsing: Periodically spray the umbrella canopy with plain water to remove loose surface dirt and debris.
- Deeper Cleaning: For more stubborn grime or wind-blown dust, use a soft cloth or sponge with a solution of warm water and a gentle detergent (like Dawn dish soap).
- Thorough Rinse: After washing with detergent, rinse the canopy thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
- Dry Completely: Always allow the umbrella to air dry completely in the open position before closing or covering it. This helps prevent mold and mildew.
Investing in a quality cover designed for offset umbrellas is highly recommended for protection when not in use or during harsh weather.
